This is our first year working with Abana Coffee Estates. We were incredibly excited to partner directly with someone doing great work in Ethiopia. Abana Translates to “our fathers” (Arabic), in which Abana is paying homage to the deep roots, rich heritage and origins of wild arabica coffee that traces to the heart of Ethiopia. They believe that their work to produce the best specialty coffee is as fundamentally important as the positive impact they make in the community. Abana Coffee Estate focuses on sustainable business practices by paying fair wages and respecting all partners. They also implement coffee education to improve quality, focus on the environment by utilizing water efficient machinery and preserving the forest in which they work, and finally through carrying out impactful social programs that benefit the community.
This third coffee from Abana Coffee Estates too has a delicious fruity bouquet. ""Sulladjah" is the name that was given to the highest part of the farm around 2,200m. This is where a community of people work that area of the farm. It is an extraordinary place with dense forest and natural fresh water spring that emerges straight out of the mountain creating a waterfall. Although Sulladjah is its location, this lot is not specifically from this area alone. It is a combination of coffee from areas of the estate. This lot was processed immaculately with traditional natural methods. They boast very clean, complex and sweet flavors indicative of Ethiopian coffee."
This coffee is truly unique with its balanced acidity that we felt resembled that of a peach and apricot, milk like mouthfeel and wonderful florals like chamomile and a silky body that paired with complex flavors make this a refined coffee experience. This coffee is truly unique and worth trying.
